GRATUITOUS NUDITY IN STATUES

Almost all statues and stone carvings in Gent feature gratuitous nudity and flimsy garments. Even a memorial for WW1 shows partially clothed wives waving off naked Belgian soldiers for no apparent reason. One of the most famous carvings is of a woman who kept her husband in prison alive with her breast milk. Unfortunately the prisoner and guards are fully clothed but the woman's left breast shows remarkable craftmanship. Fantastic! And why oh why those nice Belgians sell bum shaped bum sweets? Am I missing something Flemish?
